Nice one George…….

Brading Town FC, are delighted to announce, that George Woodburn has decided to stay with the Romans.

The club recently received an approach from a top Island Club, asking permission to speak to George, with the view of him joining them.

“After speaking with George, he has informed me, that he wishes to stay with the Romans and continue progressing, developing and enjoying his football.

This comes at a good time for myself and the club,  as we want to keep our best young players. George has been in outstanding form for the first team this season. To say I’m delighted, is an understatement!”

IW Senior Gold Cup.

morning BRADING TOWN 2 v 3 Binstead COB.

( Vale & Larbalestier )

Team: Hunt Woodnutt Burns Knowles Bennett Woodburn Woodhouse Oatley Vale Collins Cook.

Subs: Larbalestier. (used)

Brading Town Man of the Match: Todd BENNETT.

After a bright start, during which we scored a great team goal, we went out of the Gold Cup, losing 2-3 to Binstead.

They were excellent on the day and thoroughly deserved to go through. Their young side worked very hard, with the added class of Scott Jones in the side, they were always a threat.

At the moment, I am hugely disappointed. It is becoming increasingly harder and harder to raise a team on a Saturday. With several key players missing again, it didn’t help. Across all three teams today, we had 34 available!!! We have 60 signed players!!!

Commitment to the club and to the managers needs to improve, Keith, Reece Biedler and myself, work very hard trying to organise the club. Sadly, players seem to be unavailable very easily nowadays. Maybe things have changed, I would have to be injured to miss a game of football when I played……things need to change !!

Thank you to all the lads that put the effort in today.

( Just putting it out there …. The first team are in need of linesman for next week, Geoff Ruck who has done a brilliant job covering the injured Pete Hudson, is not available. I’m not holding my breath but if someone could help out, I would greatly appreciate it. )

Also a few players would be nice !!!

Lawts.

Big Names Continue Support for Brading Town Colts.

Two of the biggest names in world commerce, McDonalds and Nike, are supporting the Club once again this season. As part of their tie-in with the FA and as a reward for maintaining our Community Club Charter Standard, we have been given team strips and match balls.

McDonalds have provided 2 full sets of kit with a promise of 2 further kits over the next 2 seasons.

Nike have given us a supply of Team Strike and new Team match balls, as used in the Premier League.

The local McDonalds franchises on the Isle of Wight, are also long standing supporters of Brading’s senior and junior sections, again providing the adult “A” Team with kit and the Colts with training equipment. Our thanks to Steve Smith and his team.

Will Hunt joins the Romans….

Brading Town FC are delighted to announce the signing of Goalkeeper, Will Hunt.

I am delighted Will has signed for us. He will battle for the No 1 shirt with Andy Payne, Sam Jones and Kevin Read.

It gives the club good competition for places and with Will’s Wessex league experience and enthusiasm, I’m sure all will benefit.

Girls kick OFF……………………..@ Brading Town FC.

Girls are Go at Brading Town FC.

Saturday 11th of October, saw our newly-formed Under 10s and Under 12’s Girls, take to the field in their first competitive matches.

To mark National Girls Football Week, the Isle of Wight Council organised the event, hosted at Shanklin’s County Ground. As well as Brading Town, Ryde Saints and Shanklin also fielded teams for rolling small sided games.

Brading’s first ever Girls goal was scored by WILLOW SAMUEL, with our youngest player, CHARLOTTE JENKINS, winning the ‘ Girl of the Game ’ trophy for her heroics in goal.

Girls team coaches, Ben Bolland and Mark Powell, were extremely proud of the teams efforts, especially after a relatively short period of training together. “ It was great to see the girls playing with a smile on their faces throughout. Special mention to Grace, Brooke and Ella, who acquitted themselves very well in the older age group,” said Mark.

This is the first of a series of tournaments throughout the season.

The girls train from 9-10 on Saturday mornings, at Broadlea Primary School, Lake.

Anyone interested, please contact Mark Powell, on 401196 for more details or e-mail us through the website.
